Are Cold Air Intakes Illegal

I just came from my Honda dealer askin em about how i can add in a cold air intake, but then the performance guy told me that cold air intakes are illegal in California n i was like WHAT?!?! Could someone explain this to me?... i don't know whether to belive him or not!

not tryin to shit in your cherios, but if it doesnt have a CARB certification, then yes, it is illegal.
there arent any good intakes out yet (comptech, mugen, etc...) so i'd wait a while. When comptech comes out with one, you can bet you're life it will be CARB certified, and therefore perfectly legal.

if it has a CARB/EO #, then the part is legal. any intake that doesn't have one of those #s is indeed illegal in California, and any state that has adopted California's emissions laws.

wow. that sucks about you cali ppl. they so strict with the emissions. is it actually true that some or even all cars have to have a back-up siren like school buses when the car is in reverse? a friend had bought a 95 civic from cali, and it had it...they said it was a law over there??

I noticed that alot of knock offs have a sticker that looks verry similar to a carb sticker, but it doesent actually have numbers on it, just some bullshit text

i'd imagine thats one reason why alot of common, and well known brands cost more, because they have to make them comply with emissions. whereas knock-offs can just do whatever and cut corners.

For some reason I stick with AEM when it comes to filters, but are all yooh guys sure? Cause I even asked him that if the intake had a CARB number and it passed emissions that it would be legal but...he still said no... Whats up with that?! I'm starting to think he maybe didn't understand me, or he was lying to me! :mad

idk what he's tryin to say. because comptec has CARB exemption and is legal. thats partly why they cost more. just like AEM they are getting the money spent on the CARB certification back when we buy their product

intakes in general isnt worth it for me unless its bought for a cheap price. i would never pay over 100 bucks for a intake that doesnt help make much or if any hp
